FAQ

Q: Convergence MUSH? What is a MUSH? A: Technical Answer: Multi-User Shared Hallucination, a derivative of text-based multiplayer role-playing games called MUDs, which are what MMORPGs evolved from. MUSH is distinguished by having a rich scripting system for building games. Colloquial Usage: A text-based game server often used to host persistent, shared world, themed roleplay communities.

If you are new to MUSHing, check out MUSHing 101, which will have useful basic information.

Q: MMORPGs! So is there enemies to fight and items to loot? A: Not in the way you're probably imagining. We operate more like tabletop RPGs; Dungeons and Dragons, World of Darkness, Mutants and Masterminds. A focus on narrative with light to no hard mechanics.

Q: So how do you play on it? A: Most people download specialized clients like MUSHclient, BeipMU, or Atlantis. The front page has details on downloading a client and the required information to connect. See Creating A Character for next steps. Once connected, you'll use text commands to create/login to a character, find or start a roleplay event, and hopefully have fun with everyone!

Q: So who or what sorts of characters can I play? A: Pretty much anyone, from anything. Characters from books, movies, video games, comics, tabletop settings, myth and legend, or your own imagination. We're friendly toward compelling and well-written alt-u what-ifs. We do have some limits and guidelines about tone, rating, maturity, and how to tastefully portray extreme or odd powers and abilities, though. See: Roleplay Rules and Power Rules

Q: Anyone from anything? How does the setting work? A: To accommodate a myriad of roleplay interests and character play styles, we've chosen to structure the setting like this: imagine all timelines and realities, stories, etc, as bubbles floating in a void. Within that void, there's a bubble which seems to be attracting more worlds to it, and contains an artificial world within called Grand Convergence. As they get close, connections and stable pathways form that allow travel.
